Step-by-step instructions for connecting Universal TV Remote to your TV, brand by brand.

Samsung

  1. Enable IP Control on your Samsung TV
    On your Samsung TV go to Settings → General → External Device Manager → Device Connect Manager → Access Notification and set it to First Time Only or Always Allow.
  2. Connect iPhone and TV to the same Wi-Fi
    Make sure your iPhone and Samsung TV are connected to the same home Wi-Fi network. This is required for Wi-Fi remote control.
  3. Open Universal TV Remote and tap Add TV
    Launch the Universal TV Remote app on your iPhone, tap the + button at the top right, then select Samsung from the brand list.
  4. Auto-detect your Samsung TV
    The app will scan your network and display your TV. Tap it to connect. If not found, tap Enter IP Manually and input the IP shown under Settings → General → Network → Network Status on your TV.
  5. Accept the pairing request on your TV
    Your Samsung TV will show a pairing prompt. Select Allow to complete the connection.
  6. Start controlling your TV
    The Samsung remote layout will appear in the app. You can now control power, volume, channels, Smart Hub, and launch apps directly from your iPhone.

LG

  1. Enable LG Mobile TV On
    On your LG TV go to Settings → All Settings → General → Mobile TV On and turn it on. This allows the TV to be controlled even from standby.
  2. Connect both devices to the same network
    Ensure your iPhone and LG TV share the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Open Universal TV Remote and add your LG TV
    In the app, tap +, select LG, and let the app auto-detect your WebOS TV.
  4. Authorize the connection on your TV
    A prompt will appear on your LG TV asking to allow remote access. Select Accept.
  5. Use Magic Remote features
    The app replicates LG Magic Remote functions including pointer mode, gesture control, and quick access to LG content store.

Sony

  1. Enable Remote Start on Sony TV
    Go to Settings → Network → Remote Start and turn it On. This allows the app to wake your Sony TV from standby.
  2. Enable IP control
    Go to Settings → Network → IP Control and set Authentication to Normal and Pre-Shared Key. Note the IP from Settings → Network → Network Setup → View Network Status.
  3. Add your Sony TV in the app
    Open Universal TV Remote, tap +, select Sony, and let it auto-discover your TV on the network.
  4. Enter the pre-shared key if prompted
    If your Sony TV requires a pre-shared key, enter the key you set in the IP Control settings (default is usually empty or 0000).
  5. Control Google TV or Android TV features
    Once connected, you have full access to Google Assistant commands, app launcher, and Google TV home screen navigation.

TCL

  1. Find your TCL Roku TV on the network
    On your TCL Roku TV press the Home button, go to Settings → System → About to see the device name and network info.
  2. Enable Roku external control
    Go to Settings → System → Advanced System Settings → External Control and enable Network Access.
  3. Connect iPhone to the same Wi-Fi
    Make sure your iPhone is on the same Wi-Fi network as the TCL TV.
  4. Add TCL TV in Universal TV Remote
    Open the app, tap +, select TCL (Roku TV), and the app will find your TV automatically.
  5. Control Roku interface
    You now have full Roku interface control including the home screen, search, voice search, and direct app launch from your iPhone.

Hisense

  1. Enable VIDAA Remote Service
    On your Hisense TV go to Settings → Support → Mobile Device Connection and turn on the remote service.
  2. Note the TV IP address
    Go to Settings → Network → Network Status to find your TV IP address.
  3. Add Hisense TV in the app
    Open Universal TV Remote, tap +, select Hisense, and let the app scan your network.
  4. Pair and connect
    The app will find your VIDAA Smart TV. Tap it to pair and connect in seconds.
  5. Enjoy full control
    Control VIDAA platform navigation, adjust gaming mode settings, and launch streaming apps directly from your iPhone.

Roku TV

  1. Enable Roku external control protocol
    On your Roku device press Home, go to Settings → System → Advanced System Settings → External Control → Network Access and set to Default or Permissive.
  2. Connect to the same Wi-Fi
    Your iPhone must be on the same Wi-Fi as your Roku TV or stick.
  3. Add Roku in Universal TV Remote
    Tap +, select Roku, and the app auto-discovers your device instantly.
  4. Control and launch channels
    Use the Roku directional pad, launch any channel by name, and use the built-in keyboard for faster text input than the on-screen keyboard.
